Locomotive provision

Configuration, delivery, return. Every locomotive is delivered with all the operational equipment and technical documentation needed. We apply a simple set of rules to ensure that contracts start and end smoothly and that costs are controlled. The delivery and return procedure is clear and structured, based on a record and condition report compiled by both parties, including a comprehensive report on the condition of the locomotive being returned and photographs of any damage.

Customer’s need

A passenger train operator has a large fleet of modern locomotives that are very important for its operations. In the medium term, the operator is envisaging replacing the locomotives by multiple rolling stock units. The company is looking to vary its fleet over the next few years and wants to have guarantees on cost of ownership for each locomotive.

The solution

Akiem buys the entire fleet and enters into a contract to lease back the locomotives under clearly detailed technical and financial conditions. Akiem takes on the risk of finding new lessees for the locomotives as the customer gradually returns them.

Customer’s need

A customer wants to invest in a large diesel locomotive fleet and has set out the functional requirements. The goal is to find a partner to finance this transaction and the customer wants its partner to manage the entire process of selecting the manufacturer and negotiating and managing the acquisition contract.

The solution

Akiem puts in place a team to manage the project from the locomotive acquisition to delivery. The customer commits to leasing the locomotives for eight years; Akiem guarantees the fleet’s operating cost and operational performance.
