A demanding, transparent approach focused on the future of the European railway sector
Accelerating sustainable rail
At Akiem, sustainability is intrinsically linked to our role as a key player in rail mobility and to the management of assets designed to last for several decades.
In a sector where safety, reliability and carbon footprint go hand in hand, our decisions are made with the long term in mind.
Our ESG approach covers the entire value chain, from fleet strategy to maintenance operations, including working conditions and governance.
It incorporates key priorities such as decarbonisation, climate risk management, health & safety and inclusion.
In a changing environment, we have chosen to be highly transparent about our impacts, without seeking to gloss over reality.
This approach enables us to clarify our decisions, strengthen the trust of our stakeholders and contribute to the development of a more sustainable rail system in Europe.
COMMITTING TO A SUSTAINABLE IMPACT
The 2025 ESG Report
The 2025 ESG Report outlines the progress made and the challenges that remain.
For the first time, Akiem has recorded a reduction in its direct emissions despite the growth of its operations.
This progress is driven in particular by the gradual electrification of our operations and a strategy to modernise our fleet.
The report also provides a transparent overview of areas for improvement, particularly regarding diversity and staff turnover.
Designed as a tool for management and dialogue, it reflects our commitment to measuring, understanding and sustainably improving our impact.
It forms part of a clear commitment to maintaining rigorous reporting, aligned with European standards, even in the absence of any regulatory obligation.
Finally, it serves as a key milestone to support the transformation of the rail sector.
